Water
Ensure that your bunny always has consistent access to fresh, clean drinking water. This can be drank from either a water bottle or a water bowl. If your rabbit lives outdoors you must ensure that the rabbit’s water supply doesn’t freeze in the winter. Without water, rabbits can get very seriously ill and bunnies can drink a lot of water in a day.
Hay | 80% of Diet
Rabbits need an unlimited supply of good quality hay and/or grass. This should make up 80% of a rabbit’s diet and should always be available. Rabbits are grazers and their digestive systems need hay and/or grass to function properly. Rabbit teeth also grow continuously and need to be worn down and kept at the correct length by eating hay and/or grass.

Pellets | 5% of Diet
It is recommended to only give a small amount of pellets a day, however, growing or pregnant rabbits may need larger portions. About an egg cup size a day should be plenty. If you want, you could mix nuggets and pellets together to give a bit of variety. Although you will find that your bunny will prefer one over the other. Pellets/nuggets are not essential and should not be the main part of their diet. Please avoid muesli-style foods as they can be linked with certain health problems – and can cause selective eating resulting in a rabbit not getting the essential nutrients they need. Not eating the right diet can result in serious dental disease and/or other digestive issues- which would not only be uncomfortable for your bunny with high vet bills but could even lead to death.

Vegetables/Fruit/Forage | 24% of Diet
Please refer to our blog post regarding safe vegetables and fruit for your bunnies to enjoy! CLICK HERE
You can start giving your bunny safe, washed leafy green vegetables, herbs and plants daily as soon as you take them home. Root vegetables such as carrots and fruit should only be given in small amounts as occasional treats as they are very high in sugar. A good way to ensure that it isn’t causing any digestive issues is checking their poop. As long as they have golden round poop your bunny is doing okay. If not, stop all food except for hay and water till poop start looking as it should again.
Our bunnies favourites are basil, coriander, parsley, mint, kale, banana, apple, blueberries and pear and apple sticks and leaves.
Treats | 1%
Treats should be occasionally offered. Never EVER buy any treats with seeds in as these are known to actually kill bunnies from blockages.
